
Membership Matters – Sign Up Now!
Membership in AMWS has never been more critical. Wetlands are a significant part of a healthy earth. Not only will members get breaking news about wetland issues first, they will also receive our newsletter, reduced-rate professional workshops, networking, and opportunities to offer technical input to state and federal agencies.
We are the ONLY professional organization providing information and continuous educational opportunities to area wetland scientists. Membership is based on the calendar year, January 1st – December 31st. To become a member, complete our member application, submit your annual dues payment, and send us your resume if voting membership is desired. In an effort to improve the accuracy of AMWS membership records and the Member Directory, AMWS is asking all new and renewing members for 2026 to please fill out the membership application.

Categories and Requirements
Voting Members:
- Qualifications:
- Voting Members must possess a minimum of a two- or four-year college degree, with at least fifteen (15) semester hours in biological, environmental, or related science (see disciplines listed under Wetland Science definition in Article II above); OR
- Voting Members must have practiced the Profession of Wetland Science or an Adjacent Profession for at least two (2) years and must be sponsored for Voting Member status by at least one (1) Voting Member in good standing;
- Only Voting Members in good standing shall have voting privileges; and
- Only Voting Members in good standing may serve on the Board of Directors or serve as Chair of a Standing or Non-standing Committee.
Non-Voting Members:
- Non-voting Members shall be any individual with an interest in wetland science;
- Non-voting Members shall not have voting privileges at full membership meetings; and Non-voting Members may serve on a Standing Committee or Non-Standing Committee and have voting rights within that Committee but may not serve as the Committee Chair.
Definitions:
- Private sector is considered for-profit firms such as consultants.
- Non-profit is considered to be governments and not-for-profit groups.
Noteworthy:
- A resume is only required for a new member seeking voting status or for a non-voting member upgrade.
- A conservation agent joins as an individual; member discounts apply to the agent, not to the commission.
- Corporate membership offers a reduced per person rate to encourage multi-employee membership. Each individual within the corporation completes an application, and the organization pays the fee.
