Description: Learn key identification techniques for woody species of vines, shrubs, and trees. This workshop is oriented toward those with beginner to novice proficiencies in botany and will focus on the basics of plant identification and terminology (i.e. opposite vs. alternate branching, simple vs compound leaves, etc.). Hosted at the Rauscher Farm Conservation Land in Clinton, MA, attendees will visit an assortment of habitats with handouts and field instruction covering a multitude of common wetland and upland species.

Notes: Rustic amenities, there is a picnic table, port-a-potty, and no potable water onsite. Participants should bring a packed lunch and dress for potential wet field conditions. I will provide insect repellant and sunblock.

Description: AMWS is offering a workshop focusing on challenging wetland delineations on the western edge of Worcester County. This workshop will feature complicated soils and plant communities within a sloping meadow as well as a potential vernal pool, forested wetlands, and streams. There will be so much to explore and learn about Freshwater Resource Areas protected under the MA Wetlands Protection Act.
