Many wetland scientists have a basic understanding of amphibians that use various aquatic habitats for breeding, egg deposition and larval development. Identifying egg masses is relatively simple, but after the embryos hatch, and free-swimming larvae begin to grow and develop, identification can be more challenging.
If you would like to learn more, please join amphibian expert Scott Smyers to learn basic and advanced methods for the identification of tadpoles found throughout New England. This one-day course will include an overview of the literature related to tadpole taxonomy and examination of specimens of common and rare species.
