Membership in AMWS has never been more critical. Wetlands are a significant part of a healthy earth. Not only will members get breaking news about wetland issues first, they will also receive our newsletter, reduced-rate professional workshops, networking, and opportunities to offer technical input to state and federal agencies.
We are the ONLY professional organization providing information and continuous educational opportunities to area wetland scientists. Membership is based on the calendar year, January 1st – December 31st. To become a member, complete our member application, submit your annual dues payment, and send us your resume if voting membership is desired.

Categories and Requirements
Voting Members
- Must have practiced the profession of wetland science for at least two (2) years, and must have a Baccalaureate degree (BS or BA) with a minimum of 30 semester hours in a biological, environmental, or related science (e.g. geology, hydrology, soils, ecology, etc.). Please enclose a current resume.

- If lacking the qualifications listed above, must have practiced the profession of wetland science for at least five (5) years, and must be sponsored by three voting members.
- Only Voting members may serve on the Board of Directors or Chair a standing committee.
Non-Voting Members
- Any person with an interest in wetland science.
- Note: Non-voting members may be appointed to committees by the Board of Directors, and will have voting privileges within that committee, but may not serve as Chair of any committee.
Definitions:
- Private sector is considered for-profit firms such as consultants.
- Non-profit is considered to be governments and not-for-profit groups.
Noteworthy:
- A resume is only required for a new member seeking voting status or for a non-voting member upgrade.
- A conservation agent joins as an individual; member discounts apply to the agent, not to the commission.
- Corporate membership offers a reduced per person rate to encourage multi-employee membership. Each individual within the corporation completes an application, and the organization pays the fee.
